FAT IN YOUR MEAT AND THE FATWhat is this recent terror of fat on meat?
In the same line of thinking, SCIENCE NEWS for Feb. 17, 96 reports that a team of doctors in Australia has learned that cholesterol can be reduced in the blood by eating fish oil or flax oil. [ Eat fat to burn fat ] It was even shown that if these were used in the diet of cattle, their meat and milk products changed in the proteins which both inhibit and aggravate cholesterol in the blood. The diet of cows was changed to include flax products. If this is true, it should be great for flax growers, and the New Age space cadets will now have another horror as we find more need to eat fish. The problem here is, the body MAKES cholesterol, and if you inhibit your body from making it, your body will try to make more. Low cholesterol is associated with depression and suicide. Low Cholesterol in children inhibits their brain development, and low cholesterol in older adults has been proven to cause dementia and generally bad health. Fat in meat is the only source of CLA, a fat needed to metabolize other fats. That is why we fight obesity. CLA is ONLY found in grass fed animals that chew the cud. Feeder lot cattle do not have any CLA in their meat. Do you get the point? Nehemiah was right afterall. Nehemiah 8:9 And Nehemiah, which is the Tirshatha, and Ezra the priest the scribe, and the Levites that taught the people, said unto all the people, This day is holy unto the LORD your God; mourn not, nor weep. For all the people wept, when they heard the words of the law. 10 Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength. Is this an accurate report? I don't know. SCIENCE NEWS is about as responsible as a pro-evolutionist rag can get. Keep watching. I want to hear from anyone who can add to this in the coming days. Back to the U of Calif. Wellness Letter- They report that, "A lumberjack or boxer needs about the same amount of protein as a middle-aged office worker who rarely leaves his desk." Why? Because protein is not used by the body to fuel activity. It is used to build the body, mainly the nervous system and the brain. The thing that the lumberjack and the office worker can't have in common is carbohydrate intake. That is the fuel of the body. Well, the Wellness Letter may just be off a little bit. A study showed that the reason Japanese men are so much bigger and muscular than their parents is because of eating more protein, or Big Macs. So, there is some difference in the two men in the above model in regard to protein, not one day at a time, but over the long haul. Red meat IS a part of good strength. Wellness Letter's point is useful though, since we eat a lot more red meat than we need. African cultures in many countries eat a lot less red meat than we do, but I have seen Africans work hard day after day on that diet with good health. The notion that the Masai of Kenya drink blood by the bucket is only a myth. Their blood intake is rather modest. I lived there. Their red meat intake is very low, but their stamina is fantastic. Really, just eat food and enjoy it, and stop cutting the fat off of your meat. Use more lard and butter. They are not processed the way these cooking oils are, and they are not hydrogenated.
Editor: When I gain a few pounds, I go on a no-carbs diet, walk more, and eat lots of red meat and fat. Boing, the fat comes off fast. Furthermore; it is great to have an excuse to eat well for a few day. :-)
