In about 1965, when I was attending college in the Los Angeles area, a very godly older missionary named Frank Manning was driving me to visit his wife who was semi-invalid. At a stop light, a girl crossed the street dressed very poorly. Brother Manning turned to me and said, "Steve, before you are old you will see women on the street completely naked." My youthful reaction mentally was at first that this was interesting. Then I realized what brother Manning was trying to tell me. He was making the point that life would be very hard for a godly man one day. Keeping the eyes and lusts from wandering would be tough. I recall my thoughts, and I wondered if one day Bible believers would end up looking at the ground a lot in the marketplace. Now, I find myself doing that. |
We have arrived, gentlemen.
Type "topfree" into Google search engine, and you will see many sites which are defending and promoting topless liberty on the streets. Groups are bringing law suits to win this right. Be careful not to open sites which are obviously porn, but you will be amazed at all the serious sites promoting nakedness as decent activity. Are you dealing with this? It will not go away preacher. These are the end times. Men's hearts will wax worse and worse.
I received email recently from a woman who was defending women wearing feminine looking pants. She sounded like a church house lady asking me to be more reasonable. I did what I often do-- I dropped her email address into a search engine. Guess what? She is the founder of Top Free in Florida. You need to let your people know that women wearing pants is now a symbol of going naked and rebellion against clothing in general. You also need to understand, and to teach your people, that there is a war on right now, and the enemy is fighting to force Christians to get naked.
The thing that sent me back to freshen up this section to pastors was something that happened in a store where I shop often. Almost all the employees in the store claim to be born again, and they will talk freely of Christ and prophecy. There is no cussing, even when man to man conversations takes place. But, there are two young adults working in the store who are a real distraction. They dress like whores. They carelessly bend over and pick up things while men are looking. I believe they WANT the attention, but they also want to be known as born again good godly girls. I am reminded of a country song I heard long ago, "Baby's Got Her Blue Jeans On." The song talked about how baby doll looked so sexy in her blue jeans, but it was not her fault that the men lusted for her-- she was not guilty of anything just because she had on skin tight blue jeans.
It is time, as I said above, for you pastors to talk to your men about these things, and your wife better talk to the ladies. I am not talking about another rant and rage on "Standards." Some of you slow bellies are too fat lazy to do the work of the Lord. Get out of that big CH Spurgeon pulpit you are so proud of, and get into the coffee shop with a couple of the fathers in your church. Talk straight to them in love, and ask them how your assembly can instill modesty in all the people, and ask these men to HELP YOU while you help them.
Ladies:

Timothy 2:9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel,
with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or
costly array;
10 But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good
works.
You and the men:
Job 31:1 I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid?
If Job had to deal with his eyes thousands of years ago, and if he talked about it openly, then YOU and I better be a little more open about it with the men you claim to be discipling. If Job was put on record in the canon of the Word of God in his zeal to be pure, how about YOU going on record?
Dr. Ebeling taught at the Bible college where I attended long ago. He had a rule that if any young ladies wanted to sit in the front row, they had to bring a lap rug. The other professors did not make any such rules. Well, Dr. Ebeling was asked, from time to time by some naïve young lady, why this lap rug rule. He bluntly told them that he was teaching the Body of Christ and was not interested in being distracted by the lady's body. Occasionally, a student thought Dr. Ebeling was a dirty old man. We men knew better, and we respected the brother for dealing with temptation in the model of Job.
There
are now two reasons to keep your office door open--
First, so that people
will see that there are no ladies in there with you, and
Second, to see that
you are not looking at porn on the computer.
Times have not changed, but the old evils are much closer to us-- more accessible, and more approved by humanity. As Job did, we need to make covenants with our eyes. Ladies need to make covenants with their bodies and with their husbands.
Romans 13:14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.
And, that is the naked truth.

It is interesting that he goes right back to the first time people were naked, and he looks at nakedness before and after the fall of Adam and Eve.I would suggest you study all the texts in the Bible to see what is associated with nakedness. It will be a real blessing to see that the Bible deals with nakedness in a way that helps you teach your family or the saints about it.
