This
article was posted before Dr. Ruckman went on to be with the Lord. I have left
it up in the journal for the purpose of setting some issues about the man at rest
if possible. Ruckman had many enemies, but, for the most part, he had the right
kind of enemies. Do you?
Dr.
Peter S. Ruckman
This
man is getting old, and the fire is burning low. He
should not be pounded anymore. There are links below if you really need to deal
with him. His troops can mess up your church bad, or they can be a big blessing.
Pick Ruckmanites very carefully. The ones to avoid are the ones who did not finish
at Pensacola Bible Institute. They are often fired up with Ruckman's worst traits,
but they never caught on to, or approved of, his tender side. Right, it is there,
but you have to hang around to graduate to pick up on it.
There
are also little groups of middle aged gripers who abandon the local church and
meet every Sunday to smoke and listen to Ruckman's tapes. This can be seen as
Ruckman drawing the worst sorts to him, or you can see it as a lot better than
the old geezers meeting to watch a porn video. Most things have two perspectives
if you think about it.
Also,
all schools have their traitors who receive the teaching, graduate, and go on
to backslide or go over to the enemy. It is not fair to blame Ruckman for these
Judas boys who once attended PBI. Nor should Ruckman answer for some of the literal
Martians and Art Bell types who have spent time in Pensacola and claim Ruckman
as their guru. A lot of crazy stuff is coming to be hidden behind the KJV Only
smoke screen. In fact, I fully expect the Catholic Church to have a KJV branch
one of these days. Why not, the Mormons use the KJV and manage to twist it out
of context to send their groupies to hell.
What
about Dr. Ruckman's divorce and remarriage? His two early marriages, which ended
in divorce, have been finally "put asunder" by the ladies when they
married another man, but he should not have remarried. He too has added the "put
asunder" principle to the thing, and God said no one is to put asunder any
marriage.
Whatever
we decide about divorce and remarriage, I Timothy 3 makes it very clear that Dr.
Ruckman should not be a pastor or deacon. Does that mean that God is forbidden
to bless Dr. Ruckman with a measure of blessing? Question Two: Did God use David
and Jehu in spite of their sins? David confessed, right. But, Jehu didn't kill
the queers, God made a point of it in the Word, and God also said that Jehu's
heart was like His heart.
Go
figure.
Dr.
Ruckman is old, I am getting there, and I recall with shame some very foolish
things I have done. In repentance I confessed them, and God forgave me and still
uses me. That says a lot about God and a lot about me. How is it possible that
God can make a way to use such a wicked varmint like me? Maybe Dr. Ruckman looks
different to God than I think he does. Maybe the Blood of Jesus Christ is working
in Pensacola after all. Maybe we need to lay off the man so he can have some rest
before he steps into the Glory. Maybe we need to look harder for the adversary
in the Vatican, Dallas Seminary, Biola College, and our own church house.
The
legacy Dr; Ruckman leaves behind is largely in his writings. Bible mutilators,
and scholars who like to exalt their snob positions, virtually hated Dr. Ruckman.
This was because he had an unmatched mastery of the history of the Greek text
of the New Testament, and he could run circles around them in combat in defense
of the Authorized King James Bible. But, there was a lot more to Dr. Ruckman's
message and writings than defense of the Bible. He had a down to earth way of
taking the deep things of the Word of God and making them plain and clear to sincere
seekers. I am listing a few of his best known works below:

There
are many stories about Dr. Ruckman's softer side which seldom are told. Here is
one.
There
was a student at Pennsacola Bible Institute who was well like by everyone. He
studied hard, and he was eager to preach the Gospel and serve others. But, he
was not employed, and he was very poor. Another student found out that this student
was living totally on rice and beans. He was staying healthy, but it bothered
his friends. Dr. Ruckman heard about this, and he went to work. He asked for volunteers
to go fishing for mullet for the student to eat in the shallows of Pennsacola
in the ocean. Several student men joined him, and one was a friend of ours. He
said Dr. Ruckman lead them into the shallow water, and after they were well away
from shore, Dr. Ruckman said, "Shuffle your feet through the mud instead
of taking steps. If you run onto a sting ray, your foot will come up under him,
and he will swim away instead of strike you." They caught a mess of mullet,
and the hungry student started eating a lot better. Maybe this is the sort of
thing God liked about Dr. Ruckman in spite of some of his faults.
Dr.
Ruckman has been called "God's junk yard dog." This is because Ruckman
can be extremely rough on Bible mutilators who defend the mongrel modern English
Bible translations. Dr. Ruckman had a rough up bringing, and that may explain
why he was up to doing battle with some of the most hateful Bible mutilators on
